LAHIJAN
Lahijan is one of the most beautiful cities in gilan and also in iran. The geographical position of the city in the foothillis covered with evergreen tea bushes in regularly geometrical rows, along with the very beautiful architecture of villas and house and houses with roofs in different varieties of color made it a city of outstanding scenic beauty. In other words, natural beauties and urbanism have complete each other to a greatest extent. The city is a plain and flat land, existed by the alluvial deposits of gilan rivers. In terms of the geographical position and historical features, lahijan has been one of the most important cities in gilan and it was the center of “beih pish” of gilan for a long time. Etymology of lahijan is rooted in its economic features as the word lahijan is composed of (lah) that means silk and (jan) refers to a place suffix, and it generally means the “silk city”. The climate in the plain section is mild and humid while in the mountainous area it is cool and favorable. The history of the city dates back to 800 years ago and it was established by ‘lahijan ebne sam ebne nooh’. Lahijan consists of two districts of central and rood boneh.
 
People speak gilaki dialect known as ‘bieh pish’. The economy of lahijan has blossomed through the income from tourism, flourishing plantations of tea and citrus crops, patches such as watermelon, and sericulture, bamboo-weaving, pottery along with rice farming. Locating in the beautiful foothills of Alborz mountain, lahijan is titles as” the tourist capital of the islam world”. Situated close to the center of province, lahijan has been paid more attention of developing high investment and tourism industry.
