SIAHKAL

Siahkal is located 15 km far from lahijan in a plain area. Shimrood, a small river, flows through the city creating a special beauty. Due to its geographical position, the city enjoys a mild and humid. Climate affected by the cooler climate of  highland areas. The name of the city is composed of (Si) and (Kal). Si means foothill and Kal means place, however, it changes to Siahkal in the course of time. The city consists of two districts of central and deylaman.

Siahkal is one of the spectacular places to visit in gilan both from the historical point of view and its natural scenery. The region is know as the land of deylam ancient nation. The main road of the countryside passes through siahkal and then along the shimrood river current it goes forward to deylaman mountain heights. Nice and green nature, lateh-roofed local house, roofs covered with special torn pieces of wood, along with sociable and hospitable people have promoted tourist attractions of the region. Siahkal has a brilliant historical background. Deylaman is the original cradle of one of the powerful ruling dynasties of iran called ‘Al bouyeh’ who even captured bagdad, the capital of the abbasid caliphate. This territory has been famous for the place of refuge for the shias and a lot of Iranian scholars cames from the very territory.

Needles to say, they have kept their tribal homogeneity to this day. The economy of the city depends on stock-breeding and agriculture. Besides, decorative pottery products, woodworking and sewing of local addresses are thriving in the region.
