SHAFT

Shaft, located in a plain area, is 30 km far from the southwest of rasht and 5 km far from the south of fooman. Neighboring the talesh mountains, shaft has a mild climate. Siah mezgi river flows along the city crating an outstanding scenic beauty. Shaft township consists of two districts of central and ahmad saragorab.

Its economy depends on animal husbandly, agriculture, and the related industries, rice is the crop of the region. Other common activites of the people are gardening, animal husbandly and poultry apiculture, fisheries, aquaculture, and sericulture. Furthermore, nuts production such as chestnut, summer crops, horticulture, wood products, felt-knitting and growing of ornamental flowers are other source of income.
